Preparing for the basement

As we work on the interior walls and floors, our thoughts are already turning to the next task: the basement. No, buses don’t have actual basements. Basement is the DIY term for storage under the floor in any voids not currently occupied by bus systems like the diesel tank, or the air compressors, axels, what-have-yous. The first step is to measure out these voids with an eye for how these purported storage spaces would be attached and used. Fortunately, it was a sunny and warm day in H-Town. An hour or so of crawling around, getting dirt in the face, and knocking ones head against struts yielded the above list. There are six voids, two will be occupied by water tanks (fresh and gray) and four remain to house electrical and propane, leaving just two for actual storage. 18” x 27” x 18” may not seem like a lot of space, but we’ll take all we can get. That’s one whole suitcase that doesn’t have to be accommodated inside the bus.
